How To Protect Your Driveway From Harsh Winter Weather

Now that November is here, Winter is on its way soon. Your driveway is damaged the most during the winter season, due to the harsh weather, so it’s important that you take these steps to protect it:

  • Be gentle while shoveling: Shoveling can be hard to do when the snow is heavy which can lead you to forcefully shoveling your driveway. This cannot only be bad for you, but for your driveway. You can start chipping away at your driveway and damage the asphalt. When shoveling, make sure you use a plastic or rubber-bladed shovel.
  • Shovel your driveway: Shoveling is not only important for you to create a pathway for yourself to get out, but for protecting your driveway. If you leave snow and ice on your driveway and it melts, it can cause water damage underneath your driveway.
  • Sealcoat your driveway before Winter hits: Sealcoating your driveway helps to add an extra layer of protection to your driveway from the harsh weather that Winter brings. Sealcoating can only properly cure at temperatures above 50 degrees so it’s important you sealcoat your driveway before Winter hits.
