Spalling concrete is when part of the surface peels, breaks, or chips away. Spalling is also known as scaling. Spalling is most commonly caused by freeze-thaw cycles, de-icing salts, a bad concrete mix, and improper curing. Some of the things you can do to repair your spalling is have your concrete resurfaced, rip out and replace the slab, or patch the spalled area with a color matching compound.
